Former Minster of
Information and Communications, Prof.Dora Akunyili will be buried on August
28,2014, the family has announced.
In a statement
issued yesterday in Awka, Anambra State, capital, Akunyili’s husband, Dr, Chike
Akunyili said details about the funeral rites will be made available to the
public in due course.
Akunyili, a
former Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drugs
Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and Minister
of Information and Orientation died on Saturday, June 7, after a two year
battle with cancer.
A delegates to
the on-going National Conference in Abuja , she would have turned 60 on July
14, 2014. The Akunyilis husband thanked Nigerians for the great love they
extended to Dora both in life and at death. He also expressed his family’s
appreciation to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for a special valedictory session of the Federal Executive
Council (FEC) held in honour of his wife.
