10 Years Of AMAA Is Big Deal - Rita Domminic

Screen Diva and A one-time recipient of the AMAA for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Rita Dominic, is unarguably an A-lister in Nigeria’s movie industry. In a chat with E24-7 MAGAZINE, The Meeting actress  shares her opinion of the awards ceremony…see after the cut
What’s your opinion about the just concluded AMAA 2014?
It’s the 10th anniversary; I mean, it just shows you how much the film industry is growing, or rather how much African cinema is growing. The fact that we’re celebrating ten years of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) is a big deal. It’s a great platform that rewards filmmakers all across Africa.
What do you have to say concerning the over 234 girls abducted from their school in Chibok, Borno State?

It is a sad situation. I pray that they’re returned safely to their parents. Sometimes, words can’t really express how one feels. These are kids who have been torn away from their parents for over 30 days and counting; it’s just sad, really sad. I know some of our soldiers have also died in the course of trying to rescue these girls, but we just keep praying. We’re Africans; we believe in God and Christianity and that’s really what we have, so we have to keep hoping and believing, and also stay positive.
