FABRICE MUAMBA DEFIES DEATH

Fabrice Muamba has thanked fans for their support as the first picture of the Bolton midfielder since his on-field collapse against Tottenham appeared on his Twitter feed.

The picture, which shows Muamba smiling in his hospital bed, was posted on the 23-year-old's behalf on his page on the social networking site.
The accompanying message read: "Fab wanted me to post this pic for you all and to also say thank you for such overwhelming support."
The football world had feared the worst when Muamba, 23, collapsed on the pitch during an FA Cup match with Tottenham on March 17.
Having suffered cardiac arrest, he was treated on the pitch before being rushed to the London Chest Hospital, where two hours later his heart was restarted.
Muamba remains at the London Chest Hospital but has been receiving visits from friends and family and representatives from the world of football as he continues his recovery.

Fans across the country have also expressed their support for Muamba since his ordeal.
